Privacy Policy

1. About OurBridge
OurBridge (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is an application that connects blind and low-vision individuals wearing Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses with trusted family members or friends via a real-time video and audio bridge. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the OurBridge iOS app or the OurBridge web session viewer.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 User 1 (glasses wearer — iOS app)
- Name and gender — provided during onboarding, used to personalize the experience.
- Phone number — collected and verified via SMS one-time passcode (OTP) during onboarding. Used to identify your account and send session invitations to your trusted contacts.
- Trusted contacts — name, phone number, and relationship label for each person you add. Stored on your device and synced to our cloud database (Firestore).
- Session metadata — start time, end time, and duration of each session. Stored in Firestore for your reference.
- APNs device token (optional) — used to send push notifications when a trusted contact joins a session.
2.2 User 2 (trusted contact — browser)
User 2 joins a session via a one-time link sent by text message. We do not create an account for User 2 and do not collect any personal information beyond what is necessary to establish the WebRTC session (a short-lived room token). No name, email, or phone number is stored for User 2.
2.3 Session video and audio
Live video and audio are streamed in real time between the glasses and the browser. Sessions are not recorded. No video or audio is saved to our servers or to your device by OurBridge.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your identity during onboarding (SMS OTP).
- To send session invitation links to your trusted contacts via SMS.
- To establish and manage real-time video and audio sessions.
- To deliver push notifications related to your sessions.
- To store and display your session history (duration and timestamps only).
- To improve app reliability and diagnose technical problems.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. All SMS messages sent by OurBridge are transactional — we do not send marketing or promotional messages.
4. Third-Party Services
OurBridge uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Twilio — sends SMS messages (OTP verification codes and session invitation links).
- LiveKit — provides real-time WebRTC infrastructure for video and audio streaming. LiveKit does not record sessions.
- Google Cloud / Firestore — stores account data (name, phone, contacts) and session metadata.
- Meta DAT SDK — accesses the camera on Meta Ray-Ban glasses. Governed by Meta's privacy policies.
- Apple APNs — delivers push notifications to iOS devices.
Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
5. Data Retention
- Account data (name, phone number, trusted contacts) is retained until you delete your account.
- Session metadata (start/end time, duration) is retained until you delete it or your account.
- OTP codes expire after 10 minutes and are not stored after verification.
- Session video and audio are never stored.
- Invitation links expire once a session ends.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), short-lived access tokens, and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. Session links are single-use and time-limited. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
OurBridge is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ourbridge.app. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of OurBridge after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
